TITLE: "Home-Based Dance Exercise Program for People with Parkinson’s Disease"

Dr. Manoela de Paula Ferreira
Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Toronto

Manoela has a bachelor’s in dance and has Physiotherapy degree in Brazil. She also holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Physical Education for the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) - Brazil where she studied the effects of aquatic exercise and home-based dance exercise program in people with Parkinson’s Disease. Since 2012 Manoela has worked as a Physiotherapist in ICU and home-care. Starting 2019, Manoela has been involved with research focused on sarcopenia and frailty in Solid Organ Transplant (SOT) candidates and recipients with Dr. Mathur at the University of Toronto. In September 2020 Manoela started her postdoc at the University of Toronto with Dr. Mathur as her supervisor to continue investigating measures of sarcopenia, frailty in SOT. Moreover, Manoela is interested in making home-base exercise program accessible and feasible for people with functional mobility restrictions.
