Atena Roshan Fekr
PhD
Dr. Roshan Fekr holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto, and is affiliated with the KITE Research Institute at the University Health Network. She earned her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from McGill University and furthered her research as a postdoctoral fellow at KITE.
Her main research topic is to develop smart technologies to help seniors and patients live more safely and independently. To reach this goal, she is contributing to three main programs: “Slip, Trip and Falls Prevention”, “Program to Accelerate Technologies for Homecare (PATH)” and “Program for Infection Prevention”. With her expertise in Applied Artificial Intelligence, she has built a number of strong partnerships with prominent researchers and industry partners who have contributed to the success of her research program. Her collaborators span the disciplines of Biomedical Engineering, Rehabilitation science, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science.
