By

Jessica A. Boafo

Congratulations to Dr. Barbara Gibson on the launch of her sole-authored book!

Entitled, Rehabilitation: A post-critical approach, Dr. Gibson’s new book provides key insight on rehabilitation and examines the theoretical foundations of rehabilitation to explore new ways of thinking about disability, therapy goals, and patients’ wellbeing.

Dr. Gibson is a physical therapist with a PhD in bioethics, and a senior scientist in the Bloorview Research Institute at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Her research focuses on investigating and improving quality of life, community participation, and social inclusion of children, youth and young adults with disabilities through an examination of the health practices and policies that affect their daily lives.

Dr. Gibson recently co-authored a book with colleagues Kathryn McPherson and Alain Leplege called Rethinking Rehabilitation: Theory and Practice which presents cutting-edge thinking on rehabilitation from a range of leading rehabilitation researchers.
