A recent study led by recent PhD graduate, Samira Omar, and RSI's very own director, Dr. Angela Colantoniohas revealed significant racial biases in the research that guides rehabilitation for traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients. The findings underscore the need for more inclusive and representative data to ensure equitable healthcare outcomes for all individuals affected by TBI. This critical finding, featured in recent articles by the University Health Network (UHN) and Temerty Medicine, highlights the growing impact of RSI graduates in addressing key issues in healthcare.

It’s an achievement to see the role RSI-trained professionals play in advancing research that challenges biases and promotes more equitable care in rehabilitation sciences. This study is just one example of how our alumni are contributing to creating a more inclusive and representative healthcare system, ensuring that research better serves all communities.
