Dr. Charles Godbout is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Michael’s Hospital. After earning his degree in Physical Therapy, Dr. Godbout received a Master’s and PhD degrees in physiology-endocrinology from Laval University. He completed a first postdoctoral training, both at the University of Toronto and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), followed by an additional year of training at the University of Montréal.
Using in vitro and animal models, Dr. Godbout investigates clinical challenges faced by patients and health professionals in the field of rehabilitation. Dr. Godbout’s research interests have covered different topics: characterization of tendon repair, effects of different treatment strategies (e.g., electrical stimulation, exercise) on tendon healing, influence of mechanical environment on tissue repair and fibrosis. His current work focuses on fracture healing and rotator cuff repair.
Over the years, Dr. Godbout has received multiple fellowships and awards from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA), among others.
