RSI congratulates Dr. Nick Reed for receiving the 2015 Tom Pashby Sports Safety Award!

Dr. Reed was presented the award on November 22, 2015 at a reception to celebrate his achievements at the Bloorview Research Institute at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Event attendees comprised of many distinguished guests including past award winners, board of directors, and Holland Bloorview Concussion Centre Staff.

The Dr. Tom Pashby Sports Safety Award recognizes outstanding contributions, made by Canadians, towards the prevention of catastrophic injuries in sport and recreational activities. These injuries, such as severe head, eye or spinal cord injuries, can leave victims debilitated for life.

Having graduated from RSI's PhD program at the University of Toronto, Dr. Reed is now an advocate for the prevention and safe return to sport and recreation of children and youth who have experienced a concussion(s). Dr. Reed’s significance lies in his holistic approach of addressing the broader social networks of children and youth – family, friends, school, and the sports community – as influential partners in the prevention and concussion education and safe return to play.
