Enable your JOINid
Every admitted student receives a JOINid from the School of Graduate Studies. Your JOINid is required to access University systems before your studies begin. Enable your JOINid and create a password as soon as possible. Once activated, you will be able to access ACORN and begin completing other onboarding activities.
For more information, please check UTORid Management
Activate your UTORid
When you begin your studies, your JOINid will become your UTORid. Your UTORid provides access to University services including Quercus, UofT Libraries, ACORN, wireless networks, and student email.
Follow the instructions provided by the TCard Office Home - TCard to activate your UTORid.
Obtain your T-Card
The T-Card is your official University of Toronto student identification card. It is required for many campus services and serves as your library card. Incoming students for Fall 2026 are eligible to get their UTORid starting May 1. Government-issued identification and admission documentation may be required. For more information: Get Your UTORid & TCard - TCard (utoronto.ca)
Set up your UTmail+ account
UTmail+ is the official email and calendaring service for University of Toronto students. All RSI students are required to maintain a University email account and monitor it regularly. Important communications from RSI, the School of Graduate Studies, instructors, and the University will be sent to this account.
Students are responsible for monitoring this account regularly. For more information: UTmail+ | Student Web Services | University of Toronto (utoronto.ca)
Review your funding package
Carefully review your admission offer and funding package. Make note of funding amounts, award conditions, payment schedules, and any requirements that must be maintained to remain eligible for funding. Contact RSI if you have questions regarding your funding arrangements.
Arrange housing
Students moving to Toronto are encouraged to begin housing searches early. Explore University residences, off-campus housing options, and resources available through U of T Student Life. Securing housing well in advance will help ensure a smooth transition to graduate studies. Residence application support - UofT Student Life (utoronto.ca)
Rehabilitation Sciences Institute has been allocated 1 guaranteed residence space(s) to offer to incoming first year students enrolled in full-time studies. Please contact the RSI office for more information.
